Job Title: Winding Operator (Transformer Manufacturing)
Location: This position is required to be onsite M-F 270 North Congress Avenue, Lake Park, Florida. Hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm.
Reports to: Director of Manufacturing
Job Summary: The Winding Operator is responsible for operating and managing winding machines to produce transformer windings, ensuring they meet quality and design specifications. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards to ensure that winding operations are carried out efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Winding Machine Operation: Operate winding machines to create transformer windings for primary and secondary coils, ensuring correct wire placement, tension, and insulation.
2. Winding Setup: Set up the winding machine according to the specifications of the transformer, including selecting the proper wire type, gauge, and insulation material.
3. Quality Control: Ensure that the windings meet design and quality standards by performing visual and dimensional inspections during the winding process.
4. Insulation Application: Properly apply insulation materials during the winding process to ensure the coils are properly insulated and meet electrical standards.
5. Winding Adjustment: Adjust winding machine settings for wire tension, speed, and alignment as necessary to achieve desired coil properties and dimensions.
6. Coil Testing: Conduct basic testing of coils, such as insulation resistance checks, to verify that they meet operational specifications before further assembly.
7. Material Handling: Safely handle and load materials, including winding wire, insulation paper, and other components, ensuring they are properly stored and used during the winding process.
8. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues with winding equipment, such as machine malfunctions or coil defects, and assist in basic machine maintenance.
9. Documentation: Record winding parameters, production details, and any issues encountered during the winding process for quality control and traceability.
10. Collaboration: Work closely with other assembly and testing teams to ensure that wound coils are integrated correctly into the transformer assembly process.
11. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment by using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or 58 years equivalent experience with an Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Proven experience in winding MV transformers in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for working with tools and equipment.
Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Physical stamina to work long hours when necessary to meet project deadlines.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
