Metal Components is a start-to- finish sheet metal and tube processing company located in the South End of Grand Rapids Michigan. With a focus on quality, we utilize our engineering, fabrication capabilities and our attention to continuous improvement to serve an array of industries such as furniture, medical and other related industries.
We are currently searching for a Quality Technician 3 for our Grand Rapids, MI location. As a Quality Technician 3, you are responsible for conducting testing, measurements, and checking of parts and floor processes to verify that quality standards and procedures are being met. This position also coordinates between Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, and Process Engineer for product launch and new product/prototype testing.

Hourly Wage: $23.00 to $26.00
What you need to be successful at Metal Components:
- Inspect production parts and finished goods to ensure product and process conformance.
- Track and inspect/measure new products and submission part through process.
- Fill out PPAP, inspection, and floor audit reports for submission
- Conduct floor audits to ensure tagging, first/last part, and QMS procedures are followed
- Inspect received parts from vendors and outside services
- Quality control assessments, and problem solving for non-conformances found with production parts or processes.
- Inspecting and reviewing issues and causes of parts/products returned from customer
- Train new technicians and floor employees in company processes and procedures
- Competent in measuring parts, reading blueprints, and verifying dimensions with measuring tools in English and Metric.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment (No food, trash, scrap parts, etc.)
- Follows company policies, procedures, and safety standards always. (Gloves, glasses, sleeves, etc.)
- Must be dependable, reliable, and on time with attendance.
- The ability to perform well in fast paced environment with a sense of urgency to meet scheduled daily goals.
- Identify/Improve areas in reducing scrap/waste, improving costs and lead times.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Reading, writing, and math skills required normally acquired through high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, machinery and blueprint reading normally acquired through 1-3 years of manufacturing experience, with acute attention to detail.
- Manual dexterity required.
- Observance and adherence to company policies
- Ability to work safely and operate a hand jack.
- Ability to obtain certification and safely operate a forklift and crane (optional).
- Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and lead personnel to complete production requirements to service the customer.
- Strong teamwork orientation; willing to train or assist other, less experienced operators.
- The use and knowledge in basic production measurement tools a must (calipers. Protractor, Height gage, Radius gages, gloss meter, paint thickness gage, force/pull tester). Ability in LMM, CMM, optical comparator a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting materials and products up to 50 pounds.
- Factory operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, protective shoes/boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
- Employees must demonstrate physical ability to work in a standing position, between 8-12 hours per day.
