The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our steel service center facility. This includes managing staff, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high safety standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across all aspects of the plant's performance.
Salary: 100K - 120k
Essential Functions:
Leadership and Management:
- Provide strong leadership to plant personnel, cultivating a culture focused on safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and mentor a team of supervisors and production staff, facilitating professional development and skill enhancement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement tailored training programs to boost workforce productivity and capabilities.
Production Management:
- Plan, organize, and direct manufacturing and maintenance operations to maximize asset utilization.
- Execute manufacturing strategies and action plans to align facility performance with the company's strategic goals.
- Monitor production outcomes, ensuring alignment with quality standards and KPIs, with a focus on achieving production targets.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and proactively promote a safe work environment.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures, conduct regular audits, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Address and resolve any safety incidents or regulatory violations promptly and thoroughly.
Quality Control:
- Collaborate with the quality control team to address any quality-related concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing product quality, reducing waste, and optimizing processes.
Financial Management:
- Manage the plant's budget, closely monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Oversee procurement and inventory management to ensure an adequate supply of raw materials while minimizing downtime.
- Conduct regular analysis of production costs, identifying areas for financial efficiency and cost reductions.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process optimization initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and productivity.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to promote operational excellence and drive performance improvements.
Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain clear and open communication with senior leadership, providing regular updates on plant performance, key challenges, and achievements.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on production metrics, financial performance, and improvement initiatives.
- Foster a transparent, collaborative environment within the plant and across departments.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Plant Manager or in a similar leadership role, preferably within the steel manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of steel production processes, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience managing budgets and controlling expenses.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
