JOB TITLE : Forklift / Scale Operator
REPORTS TO : Feeder Yard Manager
JOB TYPE : Full-time, Non-Exempt
LOCATION : 2133 Maple Ave. Niagara Falls NY, 14305
HOURS : Monday - Friday 7 : 30 AM to 4 : 00 PM, Saturdays as needed
COMPENSATION : $16-18 / hr, based on experience & skills
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide quality customer service.
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Work and interact with customers receiving materials at scale.
- Computer experience – make the necessary transaction entries to capture specific metal purchased and weights.
- Sort and process scrap metal according to grade and size.
- Maintain a work area representative of a safe, organized, efficient and clean environment.
- Operates forklift or skid steer to unload / load customer vehicles and / or trucks. Also utilize forklift to dump containers. Move pallets / containers to the appropriate location.
- Learn to identify / sort ferrous and nonferrous materials, light maintenance and / or clean up.
- Perform and complete all work assigned in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
- Assist with material inventory as necessary.
- Transfer material from one container or area to another as required.
- Cross train in other tasks as needed.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions, work independently.
- Must be able to work assigned schedule.
- Must be able to perform a variety of tasks in all kinds of weather / seasons.
- Communicate with managers, supervisors, co-workers, and customers clearly and respectfully.
- Required to wear proper PPE (steel toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses)
