Finishing Metallurgical QA Professional or Engineer I/II

Purpose And Scope

This position in quality assurance exists to provide expert level seamless piercing knowledge to direct the technical aspects of steel processing of tube products. This position has technical oversight for process design for optimal product surface quality and dimensional performance. This position is responsible to conduct high levels of process analysis and continuous improvement project work in the manufacturing areas of concern. Additionally, this position exists to provide technical representation during both internal and external audits.

Responsibilities Include

• Accountable to develop all steelmaking processes that satisfy our customers’ product requirements, such as dimensions, surface, shape, and internal quality.
• Responsible to document said manufacturing processes as Metallus Business Standards and perform associate training, conduct regular reviews to confirm that the process is working as planned and make any necessary changes.
• Responsible to chair quality assurance team meetings and report out to plant management on areas of concern and continuous improvement progress.
• Provide technical support for both internal and external audits and participate in new business development opportunities.
• Manage and/or conduct Lean 6-Sigma cost savings and continuous improvement projects.
• Perform data analysis using statistical techniques to advance quality improvement, manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction, and on time delivery.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field with at least 2 years of experience in metals manufacturing or heavy industrial equivalence.
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, or related technical field.
  
  

Preferred Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field with at least 4 years of experience in metals manufacturing or heavy industrial equivalence.
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, or related technical field with at least 2 years of experience in metals manufacturing or heavy industrial equivalence.
