The Inside Sales Representative for Jemison Metals (The Company) is responsible for maintaining routine contact with established customers. This role involves handling calls, processing orders, providing quotes in line with established guidelines, researching inventory for scheduling estimates, and assisting with product or material selection. Once a customer inquiry is received and a preliminary agreement is made, the Inside Sales Representative requests a purchase order, verifies its accuracy upon receipt, reconciles any issues with the customer, and enters the information into StelPlan to create a sales order.
The Inside Sales Representative provides the primary customer service function to assigned customers by responding to requests regarding production and delivery status, changes to orders, revising quotes, or offering suggestions for alternative approaches. The incumbent has accountability for customer satisfaction and interacts regularly with all Company departments to monitor the effective flow of primary Company processes from order procurement through order fulfillment. As part of the accountability for customer satisfaction, the incumbent also proactively interacts with all Company departments to ensure resolution to non-sales and sales issues raised by customers.
The Inside Sales Representative receives system notification and coordinates with production planning and traffic personnel to monitor and verify schedules. The incumbent is accountable for notification of customers of order status and delivery schedules. The incumbent is also accountable for post-delivery communication with customers, either personally or electronically, to ascertain customer satisfaction.
The Inside Sales Representative will provide assistance to Territory Managers and associated assigned accounts. Such assistance may include, but is not limited to, providing inventory information, providing sales history, application of coils, submitting inquiries, establishing customer quotes utilizing spreadsheets, updating FIT, and providing intelligence on accounts.
The Inside Sales Representative will be in charge of evaluating excess and secondary coil lists on a weekly basis and recommend to the Regional Vice President procurement of such coils.
The Inside Sales Representative will be in charge of managing established accounts as determined by the Regional Vice President.
The Inside Sales Representative will be in charge of daily invoice edits.
The Inside Sales Representative will assist the Regional Vice President on daily routines.
The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for outbound contact with potential market opportunities and in this role researches, identifies, contacts, and qualifies potential leads. The incumbent also researches and qualifies leads arising from inbound customer inquiries. Qualified leads are handed off to Territory Managers for personal contact with customers. In the marketing role the incumbent, under the direction of others, distributes approved collateral marketing material and conducts marketing campaigns.
The Inside Sales Representative manages Salesforce.com and is accountable for its population with customer information received and contacts made.
When new customers are secured by Territory Managers, the Inside Sales and Account Representative gathers customer information from them for the purpose of setting up new accounts. This can include having a credit application completed, which the incumbent will verify for completeness before forwarding to the Credit Manager.
The Inside Sales Representative receives sales forecast data from Territory Managers and creates the appropriate forecast schedule in the Company’s integrated application software. The incumbent then monitors incoming orders, compares them to the established forecast, and reconciles any significant differences with the Territory Managers.
At the discretion of the incumbent’s manager, (s) he may be asked to perform other duties and tasks or fulfill other responsibilities for which (s) he is qualified at any time.
Essential Job Functions

Qualifications, Certifications, and Experience
- College degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience with technology based customer relationship management preferred
- Prior experience in full service sales or customer service helpful
- Steel industry experience preferred, but not required
