Position: Process Engineering Specialist
Duties: Responsible for the overall efficiency of the assigned frame rail customization processes
and equipment (CNC Punching Machines, Robotic Plasma Cut, Robotic Welding, and Heat Treatment Lines), supporting multi-functional teams to maintain the equipment operational, following manufacturer’s instructions and best practices. Lead and execute continuous improvement activities, problem solving and MOS practices implementation, training and mentoring the Manufacturing Team. Lead capability analysis, equipment replacement strategies, plant layout changes, and material flow planning for new products and processes. Ensure successful Projects Execution (i.e. equipment installation, capacity increase, new technologies introduction, cost reduction, etc.) leading and following the MPS guidelines to deliver within time and budget. Work with external vendors and companies to define, select, deliver, and qualify new solutions or the manufacturing process, using industry best practices and standards. Work in a safe manner and encourage others to do so, reporting all unsafe acts and conditions immediately. Use company’s innovation process and the team concept to improve safety in the plant. Be proactively involved with improving working conditions. Actively support the 5S implementation, keeping all areas clean, neat and properly maintained. Propose ideas for the improvement of the process quality systems and support the implementation. Lead multi-functional teams in achieving quality goals of the internal and external customers. Understand customer needs and work toward meeting and exceeding them. Identify improvement opportunities in the manufacturing processes to increase quality and productivity, and to decrease cost and waste. Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Location: Roanoke, VA
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electric Engineering, Electronics Engineering,
Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering or related discipline.
Experience: 5 years of experience in the job offered, or in a manufacturing engineering position within
the automotive chassis frame industry. Experience must include leading the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering tools. Must have hands-on experience of introducing new products and engineering changes for clients within the automotive chassis frame industry. Experience can be gained concurrently. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
