What are the responsibilities and job description for the Die Service Engineering Technician position at METALTEK INTERNATIONAL INC?
Description:
- Review sand/core testing of all shifts to ensure quality of all testing. Create and maintain SPC charts of lab testing results. Analyze and understand test results and communicate issues or make recommendations to supervisor based on the results.
- Assist with Pattern and Core design. Drive pattern upkeep.
- Prepare CAD drawings to include flat patterns and all dimensions required to fabricate parts.
- Develop CAD drawings of piece parts, weldments, and entire assemblies using electronic layouts, prints, drawings or other sources. Create CAD templates as required.
- Revise existing drawings on CAD from marked up drawings or sketches.
- Complete and maintain required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Determine the machining processes and coordinate CNC programs for complex parts from CAD models, selection of optimum speeds, feeds, tooling, cutter paths, fixturing and machining techniques to assure accurate size and finish requirements. Create programs using CAD software.
- Assist and instruct machinists, tool makers, machining leads and supervisors in helping to resolve program, tooling, fixturing and other machining problems.
- Provide expertise to Manufacturing Engineering in the planning of new jobs as well as problem solving and efficiency improvements and modeling back-up support, including all necessary details for different operations and modeling of customer parts per defined operations.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people including Foundry, Machine Shop, Engineering and Supplier/Vendors.
- Broad knowledge of Die Services and Foundry operations, experience preferred.
- Manual and CNC machining background helpful. Strong G and M code programming experience in a turning environment including knowledge of tooling applications desired.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office products, experience/knowledge of CAD-CAM programming software (preferably Unigraphics NX) or similar CAD system, including solid modeling, is essential.
- Experience reporting and analyzing results and preparing presentations with attention to detail, preparing manufacturing drawings, preferably in a machining environment and maintaining a database of CAD files.
- Formal technical education in CAD (preferably Unigraphics). Sound trigonometry and PC skills including Windows, Word and Excel.
- Ability to lead Teams in Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations.
