Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team at our fish processing facility in Bellingham, WA. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the company's financial health, ensuring compliance with GAAP, managing tax reporting, payroll, and cost accounting. This role requires a strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and proficiency in accounting and payroll software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage various state excise, sales, and fish tax reporting and ensure timely compliance.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting procedures tailored to the fish processing industry.
- Analyze financial performance, prepare budgets, and monitor cash flow.
- Implement and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and enhance accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with department heads to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 5 years of experience in a financial management or controller role, preferably within manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and relevant state tax regulations, particularly excise and fish tax.
- Proficiency with NetSuite, iSolved, and Catch Manager software a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
