POSITION SUMMARY:
Metcon is a commercial general contractor that specializes in construction management, negotiated, design-build and select hard-bid projects. The Superintendent Level 3 is to lead, and have experience with jail and detention center building a must, direct and oversee a Single project greater than $15M and less than $30M, multiple projects with a cumulative value greater than $15M and less than $30M simultaneously or support a single more complex larger project greater than $30M. Coordinate all site construction activities and supervise all field staff including Foreman and unless otherwise delegated: Sub-Foreman, and subcontractors. Effectively coordinate with trade partners, various field personnel and manage project tasks to meet schedule and budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and field personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities. They serve as an important point of contact for project communications, planning, and reporting. Responsibilities begin from the start of construction through close-out, commissioning, and warranty. Level is determined by performance, experience, project complexity, size, and value. Ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Metcon. Approximate time in role is 5-8 years or proficient in previous role.
Job Description:
Lead, direct and oversee the safe and effective daily operation of a single or multiple project(s) depending on size and complexity. Ability to execute project objectives resulting in “on time” and within budget. Ability to lead, monitor, and develop junior roles within the team. Establish project objectives and policies, maintain liaison with prime clients and monitor construction and financial activities. Take action as needed to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Metcon.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead a field operations team to implement and maintain a clean and safe work site, and to motivate the field operations team to their highest efficiency to exceed project requirements, quality control, and productivity. Work with project manager on high level reporting of cost and profitability.
- Take ownership of the overall project schedule including schedule development and schedule updates and implement the schedule by coordinating subcontractors and resources.
- Set clear and attainable goals for field operations team and hold each team member accountable. Mentor direct reports and recruit new, qualified team members.
- Management of contract requirements and scopes of work. Field documentation, punchlist, closeout, and communication of contract/scope changes with project manager.
- Extensive involvement in the field coordination of trades with the construction team.
- Assist in business development pursuits through analyzing field specific aspects of opportunities, presentations, and managing client relationships. Promote and support good internal and external relationships throughout all divisions and departments of Metcon, with clients and the public.
- Lead the planning and project set up during the preconstruction phase, including constructability, schedule, scopes of work and site logistics.
Leadership
- Instill and maintain a highly motivated staff by promoting a healthy and safe work environment, and by communicating with other employees and management in an honest, fair, and timely manner using sound judgment.
- Review all construction documents and scopes of work for each Subcontractor, to coordinate site logistics and maintain progress of the construction schedule.
- Instill and maintain a positive working relationship with the Owner and Architect to promote repeat business and references.
Safety Management
- Always ensure site compliance in conjunction with Metcon Safety Director.
- Ensure each phase of construction always maintains site and other occupant’s safety and rectifies job site safety hazards immediately.
- Ensure all project personnel follow the Project Safety Plan, use and maintain Personal Safety Equipment.
- Lead and conduct onsite safety meetings with Metcon Field Staff and applicable Subcontractors regularly and as needed
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
- Construction Management or Construction Technology preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience required.
- Five years of field supervision experience.
- Must have a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Travel is required, must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and a proactive approach to problem solving.
