METER Group, Inc. is looking for a Firmware Engineer Intern to work with one of our multi-disciplinary development teams. This individual will work as a member of a team to design, analyze, program, debug, and modify firmware for scientific instrumentation and test equipment. The ideal candidate will be working towards or have a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can work full-time hours during the summer. Part-time work may be available during the school year (at least ten hours per week).
Our development teams design products used in research agricultural and environmental sensing applications across the globe. We anticipate filling this position in the salary range of $18 - $23 per hour. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience; the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our offer will be based on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify embedded firmware using C and C programming languages
- Contribute to and maintain high-quality design and user documentation
- Collaborate and communicate with coworkers and development partners regarding firmware design status, project progress, and issue resolution
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in hardware-oriented microprocessor firmware development
- Excellent programming and debugging skills in C language
- Able to read and interpret PCB schematics and layouts for low-level driver development (I2C, SPI, UART, DMA, Timers, etc.)
- Experience with electrical tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and soldering)
- Able to communicate effectively among a cross-functional team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Scripting experience (Python preferred)
- Experience with revision control systems (i.e. git, etc.)
- Willingness to remain on the Palouse for a career after college.
