Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies as well as safety and program procedures according to safety and infection control policies.
Ensure compliance with Child Nutrition Services under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.
Maintain efficiency of food preparation while meeting or exceeding hospital and service standard guidelines.
Participate in menu planning and recipe standardization under the supervision of the Nutrition Director.
Inspect meals for conformance to prescribed diets, for standards of palatability and appearance, and temperature compliance.
Aid in ensuring that all special dietary needs are met as they pertain to patient needs and healthcare guidelines.
Ensure purchasing from suppliers in an efficient and effective manner; works with the director in authorizing suppliers; aids in special purchases of non-supplier food items.
Establish procedures for receiving, storage, and preparation of food.
Responsible for inventory control and establishing efficient and effective inventory control systems.
Supervise and evaluate all food service employees by providing ongoing timely feedback; ensure that all employees in the food service department meet or exceed standards of appearance.
Ensure adequate and effective orientation and training of all food service employees and their job-specific duties.
Adhere to safety and loss prevention program; adheres to safety rules and regulations and takes corrective action as needed.
Participate in educational activities and in-services as required.
Maintain and protect the confidentiality of patient and employee information at all times.
Communicates problems in a timely manner to Food Service Director.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Director.
Qualifications
Experience in commercial food service production.
Ability to work independently and supervise others.
Good communication skills.
Knowledgeable of State and Federal Health requirements for food production.
Ability to provide food service to patients, employees, and the public which meets or exceed UMBH hospitality and service standards.
Minimum of CDM certification.
Proficient in Microsoft outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds and hold for one minute.
Must be physically capable to receive verbal and written directions. Must be physically capable of sitting and standing for several hours at a time.
Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.
Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items.
Must be willing and able to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health.
