What You Will Do
- Conducts physiological testing and assessments on patients in accordance with current program policies and procedures. Completes initial assessments in cardiac rehabilitation per phase-specific policies and procedures.
- Reassesses patients per policy based on individual changes and progress.
- Performs telemetry monitoring/ECG's as required. Completes other physiological testing as required per established protocol.
- Appropriately recognizes warning signs and reacts according to department policy. Appropriately assists during emergency procedures as outlined in department policy.
- Develops and conducts exercise plans for patients based on individualized treatment plans and assessment outcomes. Establishes exercise prescriptions, including frequency, intensity, duration, and modality.
- Educates patients and family members based on individual treatment goals, patient progress, and approved educational materials. Instructs patients and family on exercise principles, precautions, risk factors, and proper use of equipment.

- Familiar with a variety of exercise science concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of contraindications to exercise and appropriate safety procedures.
- Ability to model a healthy lifestyle to the patients and clients served.
- Ability to work without close supervision, to organize multiple tasks and to maintain control of workflow.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate fitness and exercise techniques to others.
- Ability to demonstrate good customer service skills; ability to work well as a part of a team of professionals.
- There are no lead or supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
