Investment Associate – Private Credit & Flexible Capital Solutions, NYC
Our client, a globally recognised US based fund specialising in flexible credit investment solutions, is looking to expand their deal team in New York City with the hire for an Investment Associate.
This unique opportunity is a result of continued growth in AUM (currently c.$3bn) and volume of deal flow, the firm are looking to add a curious, eager and high performing Associate, to contribute to the success of their investment strategy and growth plans for 2025.
They operate as industry and sector agnostic investors within the US mid-market. They identify complex investment opportunities, where they provide, bespoke and innovative alternative financing solutions, with the aim of delivering consistent mid/high-teens returns.
The lean, flat structured and generalist team comprises of entrepreneurial and dynamic individuals, they are looking for a like-minded, collaborative individual with circa 3-5 years of experience from a relevant background in restructuring, leveraged finance, private debt or flexible credit/ABL investments.
Candidates for the Investment Associate role will require excellent analytical skills, strong commercial acumen, a track record in supporting the sourcing of relevant transactions, underwriting and execution experience, and strong financial modelling abilities.
Qualifications
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree required from a top tier academic institution
- 3-5 years’ experience in private credit, ABL, distressed debt or capital solutions from a reputable fund, and restructuring or leveraged finance experience from a leading investment bank or elite boutique advisory
- A strong desire to become a generalist, mid-market alternative investment professional
- Must have strong analytical & technical skills, be result-oriented, with attention to detail and quality when delivering results under time pressure
- Excellent valuation skills which will include appropriate financial modelling skills
- Strong verbal, written communication skills, with experience of delivering presentations and reports.
- Strong work ethic plus the ability to be effective in working both independently and in teams, managing multiple workstreams
- Familiar with standard loan documentation and key aspects of transaction implementation including covenant setting, security taking and ongoing controls and creditor and shareholder protections
- The ability to operate in a meritocratic culture of shared responsibility and success.
