Position:
Metlfab is hiring for an experienced programmer with prior experience as a precision sheet metal mechanic, CNC Punch Operator, and Press Brake Operator. CNC laser experience would be an added benefit. You will be programming primarily aluminum and stainless-steel parts that range from simple brackets to complex welded chassis? with tight tolerances. Must be able to comfortably work with close tolerance of /-.005? to /-.010?. During times when your programming responsibilities are caught up you will also help support the shop by operating punches, CO2 laser, or a press brake. This is a challenging but rewarding position.
Responsibilities:
- Use customers solid models to create CNC programs for Amada punches and a CO2 Laser.
- Create your own solid models when the customer is unable to supply them.
- Compare provided solid models to provided engineering drawings to ensure that they are in agreement with each other.
- Detect discrepancies between standard sheet metal fabrication practices and what the customer is trying to achieve while offering solutions if need be.
- Work cohesively with the shop floor mechanics to achieve the customer?s requirements in a timely manner.
- Operate a CNC punch, press brake, or laser if programming duties have been completed.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to efficiently work in SolidWorks version 2014 or later with minimum supervision.
- Prior experience using Amada AP100 would be a benefit but not required.
- Must have prior experience setting up and operating CNC punches and press brakes.
- Experience operating a CO2 laser would be an asset.
- Must be able to read and follow complex engineering drawings.
- Must have an understanding of MIL specs and GD&T.
- Must be able to create solid models when they are not provided.
- Must be able to comfortably work with and hold tight tolerances of /-.005? to /-.010? on sheet metal parts.
- Must be able to fluently speak English.
- Must have reliable transportation.
