We are seeking a motivated attorney to join the company's legal department. The attorney will work collaboratively on a team supporting MetLife's Group Benefits business. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Group Benefits, the attorney will provide strategic advice on regulatory and transactional matters for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and its affiliates, with a focus on certain MetLife's insurance and insurance-related products, including group life, disability and pet insurance and financial wellness offerings. The attorney will also advise on use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by the Group Benefits business.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide legal advice to business leadership on the legal requirements relating to MetLife's insurance and insurance-related products, including advice relating to product design and administration, and sales and marketing.
- Provide legal advice to business leadership regarding MetLife financial wellness offerings.
- Provide legal advice to business leadership on use of AI and negotiate customer agreements relating to AI usage.
- Take a lead role on researching and analyzing new laws applicable to insurance products. Coordinate with MetLife's Government Relations team to help shape new laws and regulations.
- Support thought leadership on insurance-related matters.
- Draft and negotiate a variety of customer agreements.
- Prepare and update contract templates and playbooks to meet business needs, protect the company, and comply with applicable laws.
- Deliver practical, business-oriented advice with a focus on meeting the Company's goals in a legally compliant manner.
- Function as a strategic partner to the business on matters of importance to the Company by providing thoughtful, creative, and timely legal advice.
- Other duties as assigned.

The salary range for applicants for this position is 156800 - 209000.
