Metal Shop Manufacturing Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shop Manager to oversee our operations in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing daily shop activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and leading a team of skilled workers. This role requires a strong background in sheet metal bending and forming, welding, assembly and fabrication processes, along with excellent leadership skills to drive productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily shop operations, ensuring all projects are completed on time and within specifications.
• Supervise staff, hiring new employees, and developing training programs
• Planning and scheduling production, and ensuring products meet customer specifications
• Oversee the use of power tools, machinery, and equipment while enforcing safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards related to welding, fabrication, and machining.
• Coordinate the reading of blueprints and technical drawings to facilitate accurate project execution.
• Maintain inventory levels of materials and supplies necessary for shop operations.
• Implement training programs for staff on equipment operation, safety practices, and quality control measures.
• Conduct regular inspections of work processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed, and training employees on safety protocols
• Planning and scheduling production, and ensuring products meet customer specifications

Skills

• Proficient in manufacturing assembly process with hands-on experience in welding techniques such as stick welding, spot welding, bending, forming and punching of sheet metal.
• Knowledgeable in sheet metal fabrication processes and blueprint reading skills.
• Familiarity with operating forklifts safely within a shop environment.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and the ability to fabricate components as needed.
• Ability to interpret codes and standards relevant to the industry effectively.
• Excellent leadership skills with the capability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail in project execution.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
