The Director of Medicinal Chemistry will report to the VP of Medicinal Chemistry and play a critical role in advancing multiple small molecule drug discovery campaigns. They will combine scientific decision-making with organizational leadership to drive projects from hit identification to development candidate.
You Will:
- Lead multidisciplinary drug discovery chemistry teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Design, implement, and execute robust medicinal chemistry strategies to meet project objectives.
- Establish and maintain partnerships to leverage external expertise and resources.
- Collaborate effectively with various departments, functions, and leadership team members to align on project goals and strategies.
- Plan and allocate resources effectively to optimize project outcomes.
- Provide strategic, scientific, and managerial guidance within an outsourced medicinal and synthetic chemistry framework.
- Contribute to the overall scientific direction and success of the organization's current and future pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
- 10 years of drug discovery experience within the biopharmaceutical industry, including a strong track record of scientific innovation and success in delivering clinical candidates.
- In-depth understanding of drug discovery processes, including ADME/PK, pharmacology, physicochemical property optimization, computational chemistry, and safety/toxicology considerations.
- Established record of success in applying structure-based drug design to clinical candidates.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary drug discovery teams from hit identification to development candidate and beyond.
- Significant experience managing synthetic chemistry activities with CROs in Asia and/or Eastern Europe.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve scientific objectives.
