What You’ll Do

The Production Manager for the Ferndale Manufacturing facility is responsible for the overall production of the plant including leadership of the hourly work force, leading and developing the supervisory team, raw material consumption and yield, quality, cost of production and satisfying customer demand. This position requires a strong emphasis on coaching, mentorship and leadership to optimize employee performance in accordance with safety procedures and is responsible for the oversite of the plant operations in producing quality products in an efficient manner. The Production Manager will be involved in continuous improvement projects throughout the manufacturing group.

The Production Manager will work Monday – Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM PST, but occasionally will be needed to attend production huddles, lead inventory, or attend an evening shift meeting, therefore flexibility in work hours as per business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director, Manufacturing - Ferndale to create the annual business plan.
  • Lead teams, and develop initiatives that improve our productivity, reduce waste and lower our overall cost of production.
  • Develop key objectives for direct reports that are supportive of the overall goals for the business.
  • Foster a safety focused culture, promoting the importance of employee education and commitment to company goals.
  • Identify, analyze and adopt appropriate industry best practices in manufacturing, production and safety.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams across Metrie to create, measure and improve operational KPI’s.
  • Create, lead and sustain a robust safety culture in the plant. Measure critical safety metrics on a monthly basis, identify potential issues and take appropriate actions
  • Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training and development
  • Lead and develop performance management competencies, SMART goal setting and individual development plan creation for direct reports
  • Continue to mentor and develop competencies in your teams that lead to improved performance in their current role and/or future roles

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, wood science qualifications, or business degree an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a production manager or superintendent in a manufacturing environment, or 10 years of experience as a production supervisor in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in implementing and driving Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives in a manufacturing setting. Must have experience driving plant-wide projects and safety initiatives.
  • Qualifications in LEAN, Six Sigma or Theory of Constraints are desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and improve safety and plant financial performance.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business communications, policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Must be able to write reports and business correspondences and effectively present information to management and customers.
  • Depending on the plant situation, must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings to liaise with night shift.

In adherence to the principle of pay transparency, we are pleased to disclose the base pay for this full-time position at Metrie. The base pay range for this role is set at 110,000.00−130,000.00. It is important to note that this position may also qualify for discretionary bonuses or commission payments. The specific base pay within the range will be contingent upon an individual's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Furthermore, it is essential to highlight that our remuneration ranges are established based on the role, level, and location.
