Our Award Winning Client is actively seeking a highly driven and results-oriented Area Process Manager – Fiber to oversee fiberline operations in a critical facility based in Columbus, Mississippi. This location plays an essential role in our client’s national operations, producing high-quality softwood pulp used in products ranging from personal care items to specialty medical and photographic materials. This leadership role commands oversight of the digester and brown stock areas, with key accountability for workplace safety, environmental compliance, asset reliability, and meeting quality production goals. The selected candidate will lead a team of approximately 35 skilled professionals, reporting directly to the Business Unit Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive operational excellence across multiple areas, including safety performance, reliability, cost control, quality assurance, and environmental compliance.
- Lead technical initiatives to sustain and enhance process performance, focusing on the optimization of the digester and brown stock systems.
- Coordinate daily fiberline activities to ensure smooth transition across shifts and align efforts with overarching plant production goals.
- Facilitate shutdown planning and maintenance prioritization to minimize downtime and uphold product consistency.
- Promote a zero-incident safety culture through active modeling and leadership engagement.
- Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices, including 5S principles, Centerlines, and the Trouble/Cause/Correction (TCC) methodology.
- Utilize manufacturing excellence tools and the Reliability Roadmap to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Cultivate a high-performance team environment, fostering accountability and professional development.
- Lead and support capital project execution, ensuring alignment with operational objectives and process improvement goals.
- Develop and implement sustainable systems for long-term reliability and safety compliance.
- Support cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement programs year-over-year.
- Ensure alignment with internal quality benchmarks and external customer expectations.
- Establish process standards, track metrics, and deploy corrective actions based on analytical performance reviews.
- Promote a culture centered on continuous improvement, engagement, and respect.
Required Technical Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in manufacturing operations.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing; preference for pulp and paper industry experience.
- At least 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a production environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations, compliance procedures, and environmental best practices.
- Proven experience with performance tracking systems, data analysis tools, and operational KPIs.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Expertise in the application of total quality management, root cause analysis, and reliability engineering methodologies.
