Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Oracle and SQL Database Administrator with systems administration expertise to join our IT team. This role involves managing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle/SQL databases, supporting engineering tools, and ensuring system security through patching, hardening, and automation. The ideal candidate will have experience in database management, system deployment, and security best practices, with the ability to work in a classified environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Oracle and SQL database administration, ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and availability.
- Implement regular system updates and patches, maintaining security compliance and minimizing vulnerabilities.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline system/software deployment and operational processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand program requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Support Windows and Linux systems administration, including networking protocols and security best practices.
- Communicate complex technical issues and strategies to management and non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- OR Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- OR, in lieu of a degree, 10 years of related experience.
Technical Expertise:
- Minimum of 4 years of Microsoft Windows and/or Linux systems administration experience.
- Minimum of 3 years as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- Hands-on experience with database security, patching, and hardening.
Security Clearance:
- Active TS/SCI clearance (must be willing to submit to a CI Polygraph if required).
Physical & Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 30% offsite.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs of equipment when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Linux Administration: 2 years supporting RedHat RHEL 7/8, CentOS, or Ubuntu.
- Network Administration: CCNA/CCNP certification or 3 years managing Cisco routers/switches.
- Virtualization: Experience with VMware or similar platforms.
- Automation Tools: Familiarity with Ansible for configuration management.
- Backup Systems: Experience with Commvault or similar backup solutions.
- Compliance: Experience managing systems under the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF).
