Position Summary
This role is responsible for leading and managing the Surgical Services department, including operations, staff development, and compliance with healthcare standards. The department features seven state-of-the-art surgical suites and advanced technology, such as robotic-assisted surgical systems. Key areas of focus include patient care, operational efficiency, and fostering collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and direct department activities to ensure optimal workflows and resource utilization, including personnel, equipment, and facilities.
- Collaborate with leadership on setting departmental goals, productivity initiatives, and capital planning.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff while ensuring compliance with evidence-based practices and safety standards.
- Oversee sterile processing, sterilization, and decontamination procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Evaluate patient care delivery, team performance, and procedural compliance, implementing improvements as needed.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate departmental routines, maintaining a patient-centered focus aligned with organizational goals.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with medical staff, nursing teams, and other hospital departments.
- Monitor inventory and supply chain needs, ensuring adherence to supply chain management protocols.
- Stay updated on surgical technology, departmental management, and advancements in sterile processing.
- Manage medical records and ensure documentation aligns with regulatory and hospital standards.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3-4 years of experience in Surgical Services, including prior management roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.
- Current eligibility for professional nurse licensure in Idaho.
- CNOR certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong understanding of sterile processing, sterilization, and decontamination practices.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in nursing or a related field.
