Role Summary
The Subcontracts Lead will be responsible for overseeing the entire subcontracting lifecycle, from initial strategy to contract closure. This position requires managing complex subcontract agreements, ensuring cost efficiency, maintaining supplier relationships, and mitigating risks for projects spanning U.S. federal, commercial, and international defense sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sourcing strategies and acquisition plans to optimize subcontractor performance.
- Negotiate and draft subcontract agreements, ensuring alignment with pricing, schedule, and technical requirements.
- Review and refine Statements of Work (SOWs) to enhance clarity and minimize ambiguity.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, finance, and program management teams to meet project objectives.
- Manage risks, government-owned assets, and regulatory compliance, including FAR/DFAR and ITAR/EAR requirements.
- Support business development efforts by evaluating and vetting potential suppliers.
- Identify and resolve subcontract-related challenges while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
- Oversee supplier costs, technical deliverables, and schedules for high-value contracts.
- Travel domestically or internationally as required to manage subcontractor relationships.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least nine years of relevant experience OR a master’s degree with seven years of experience.
- Alternatively, 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Strong understanding of FAR/DFAR regulations and subcontract management principles.
- Extensive experience with contract types such as Fixed-Price (FFP), Time & Materials (T&M), and Cost-Plus (CPFF, CPIF).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred:
- Active DoD Security Clearance (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Background as a Cost Account Manager, handling budgets and revenue forecasting.
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
