Plant Manager
Location: Alexandria, MN
About the Position
Our client, a consistent player in the ag sector, is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee the daily operations of a chemical/biofuel processing facility. This role will involve managing plant operations, maintenance, and quality control, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and driving efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives. The Plant Manager will lead a team of process operators, boiler operators, maintenance, and operations personnel, while aligning facility goals with broader company objectives.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage plant operations, maintenance, and quality control.
- Coordinate plant activities (including experiments and/or trials) in collaboration with departmental supervisors to achieve manufacturing objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Assist with and approve the hiring of all plant personnel.
- Maintain programs and policies that promote a highly effective and motivated workforce.
- Initiate and manage projects to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, enhance environmental compliance, and ensure safety.
- Ensure the facility meets all city, county, state, and federal regulations at all times.
- Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for plant equipment and personnel; review safety records to uphold safety standards for all employees.
- Oversee the maintenance of plant facilities and equipment, ensuring timely replacements or adjustments when necessary; assist in maintaining the spare parts inventory.
- Facilitate communication among all departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Review reports from supervisors and participate in maintenance planning, project status reviews, and scheduling.
- Organize plant shutdowns, communicating time frames with relevant departments.
- Conduct employee performance reviews to assess competence, knowledge, and contributions of supervisory staff; monitor supervisor evaluations.
- Establish policies and procedures to ensure plant cleanliness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university is beneficial, but not required.
- In-depth knowledge of ethanol production process and technology.
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and guide staff across multiple departments.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise staff in plant operations, lab, and maintenance departments.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training plant employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving issues.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in basic office software such as word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $129,000.00 per year
