Ultrasound Supervisor
Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Ultrasound Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our Breast and Diagnostic Ultrasound services across multiple locations. This position is based in a high-volume Level I trauma center and requires a combination of leadership, clinical expertise, and operational oversight to ensure top-tier patient care, regulatory compliance, and workflow efficiency.
As a vital member of the Radiology Department, you will work closely with the Radiology Manager to implement strategic improvements, enhance departmental operations, and support staff development while upholding accreditation and compliance standards.
Core Responsibilities
Department Operations & Staffing
- Manage 24/7 department scheduling to ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of sonography staff.
- Provide after-hours phone support to maintain uninterrupted department operations.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Develop and enforce quality control procedures for equipment, imaging techniques, and personnel.
- Conduct routine audits to maintain compliance with best practices and industry guidelines.
Staff Training & Mentorship
- Offer clinical guidance and ongoing education to sonographers.
- Promote a culture of professional growth and continuous learning.
- Assist in the development and revision of departmental protocols and policies.
Clinical & Technical Expertise
- Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations, specializing in breast and diagnostic imaging.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare teams to enhance patient care.
- Stay informed on advancements in ultrasound technology and industry standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Completion of an accredited Radiography or Sonography program (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- ARDMS certification in Sonography.
- At least five years of experience in ultrasound, with strong proficiency in breast imaging.
- Extensive knowledge of ACR accreditation requirements and regulatory inspections.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Background in a unionized healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with budgeting, policy development, and project management.
