What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dean of Students position at Metro Christian Academy?
Metro Christian Academy, a private Christian school located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, seeks a full-time Dean of Students to oversee student life in grades 6-12. This role focuses on fostering a student culture aligned with the school's mission, supporting students' spiritual, relational, and behavioral growth, and upholding biblical principles and handbook guidelines. The Dean of Students will serve as the primary advocate for the student experience, identifying areas for growth and collaborating with faculty and administrators to enhance programs that best support the student body.
DUTIES:
· Works with MS and HS Principals to collaboratively provide an excellent and wholistic school experience for our students in grades 6-12.
· Defines behavioral expectations for students, creating a culture of high expectations, yet modeling grace and restoration.
· Ensures the appropriate, timely, and consistent implementation and enforcement of disciplinary policies and procedures, including, but not limited to attendance; recommends, administers, and enforces student policies and procedures; maintains disciplinary files.
· Works with the MS and HS counselors, when appropriate, to encourage student success academically, socially, and emotionally.
· Assists with the development and coordination of chapel programming.
· Assists with the implementation of the Student Advisory and Tribes Program.
· Works with MS and HS Principals to provide educational programming for parents and serves as a point-of-contact for parent communication and feedback.
· Serves as a member of the Student Services Committee.
· Provides direct care of students.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Oversees the secondary faculty duty assignments.
· Assists with evening coverage of school activities and athletic competitions, as needed.
· Performs other related work as required.
