The Foreman / Operator will primarily be responsible for managing a crew of 2 or more technicians to ensure scheduled work stays on track and that the job is completed per the contract. The Operator will also be responsible for working alongside the technicians digging trenches, laying pipe, and using hand and machine equipment. A desired candidate is not afraid to get dirty, completes all aspects of the required job despite weather conditions, manages projects and labor per the bid, and communicates professionally and frequently with customers and manager.
Responsibilities
Report project progress to project manager and manager
Supervise all crew members
Assign tasks to crew members
Measure and configure pipe routes
Gather material and installation tools
Dig trenches using hand and machine trenching tools
Locate installed piping systems using magnetic or radio indicators
Remove old or broken piping systems and collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuse
Lay pipe alignment and seal pipes with cement glue
Install auxiliary lines
Seal exposed pipe joints and fittings
Fill and seal pipe trenches
Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company’s operating safety policies and procedures
Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance
Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers
Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner
Observe distribution of paving material to adjust machine settings or material flow and indicate low spots for workers to add material
Perform other related duties as assigned or required
Requirements :
Valid driver’s license
5 years prior, relevant work experience
Able to travel to multiple job sites each day
Able to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer needs
Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiple times a day
Able to carry and move tools and equipment up to 70 lbs.
High precision / detail-oriented
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently with little supervision
Knowledge of fire systems and tools
Works effectively and efficiently while performing all aspects of the required job
Preferred
CSA Certification
OSHA Certification
Knowledge of ProfitZoom, Building Reports, and Paylocity
Bilingual – able to speak Spanish
