Job Description: Cross Trained Inspection Technician - Trainee
Our field service technicians perform inspections, test, and repairs on fire and life safety equipment installed in business, multi-family & institutional occupancies in the Portland/Vancouver region. Metro has a unique training program for our inspection technicians – our Cross Train Track. This is a 2-year on the job training with independent study to learn the correct inspection procedures, testing procedures, and routine repairs and will prepare the trainee to pass the online tests ICC & NICET certification in the different disciplines: fire extinguisher, fixed suppression systems, fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems. This is a proven program to create a valuable fire/life safety professional – a technician who not only knows how to do the job correctly, they also know why it is important and what fire life/safety codes they are serving.

Minimum Qualifications to be eligible for our program:
- High School graduate (or equivalent), clean driving record, pass our background check, good reading, comprehension, and math skills.
- Must be physically fit as this job is heavy lifting, lots of walking and climbing stairs every day.
- Computer savvy as we are, digital everything.
- Customer service attitude and team spirit are a must.
- As stated above, this training program has independent-study classes required for certain national codes and standards and lots of tests (eight certifications total for this program), so strong self-management, and time management skills are needed.

Training wage is $20-24/hr the first year, $25-28/hr the second year.
