In addition to behavioral health care, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, services for veterans and their families, accessible pharmacies, housing, and supportive social services. Alongside clinical care, researchers and teachers from Metrocare’s Altshuler Center for Education & Research are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County while providing critical workforce to the state.

The HR Specialist Onboarding is responsible for coordinating the employee onboarding process, including making offers of employment to applicants, ensuring background checks and drug screens are completed, collecting new hire paperwork, and entering new hires into HRIS system. Also assists with various audits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make offers of employment to applicants.
  • Facilitate background checks and drug screening process for new hires. Review background and drug screen reports to determine if applicants are employable.
  • Schedule applicants for new employee orientation (NEO).
  • Collect all new hire paperwork and enter new employee information in HRIS system.
  • Oversees the renewal of licensure and certification updates (i.e. proactively reporting on upcoming expiration dates and ensuring employees without valid licenses/certifications are routed to the management team for appropriate action).
  • Maintain job files in compliance with standard practices.
  • Coordinates the Bi-lingual testing program / schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelors degree, preferred.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of related hands-on experience in Onboarding and performing background checks
  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish, preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to work with reports and numbers.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to successfully use an automated HRIS record keeping system.
  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
  • Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by center's liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
