What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Staff: Art Lab Technician (Pool) position at Metropolitan Community College?

The Art Lab Technician will assist MCC Art Faculty with providing educational assistance, demonstrations, maintain organization and ceramic studio maintenance.

The Art Lab Technician will assist MCC Art Faculty with providing educational assistance, demonstrations, maintain organization and ceramic studio maintenance.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to proper safety protocols within art studio
- Be an ambassador of professional studio habits demonstrated though studio conduct
- Maintain equipment safely during open studio hours
- Loading and unloading kilns
- Programming and firing the kilns
- Help student's with throwing materials on the wheel(s)
- Tracking glaze inventory
- Managing and assisting varies types of ceramic firing (e.g. electric, Raku, etc.)
- Aid in keeping the studio clean
- Ensure labels are on raw materials
- Perform other similar duties as assigned
Education
- Associate's degree in Art (Preferred)
OR
- Successfully passed MCC's ceramic art classes level four (ART 173) plus direct work experience in a ceramic studio firing kiln(s) and studio equipment
OR
- High School Diploma/GED plus one (1) year ceramics experience.
Experience
- Knowledge of health and safety when firing kiln(s) and maintaining a studio.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- The position requires availability to work evenings and/or Saturdays to assist when the ceramic studio is open.
