We are now hiring for a full-time Intervention Specialist Program Supervisor (Bilingual preferred) to join our Adult Protective Services team! This position will primarily serve the Illinois Department on Aging (IDOA) Chicago northside sub-areas 1-4 but can be asked to cover other service areas based on programmatic need.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborates with program management to ensure program operations comply with agency protocols and funder requirements.
- Provides case consultation to Specialists, including before and after community based visits, case decision points considering client risk, safety, and self-determination, proceeding in the client’s best interest when necessary.
- Continuously evaluates safety of staff related to risk levels associated with the presenting concern, and community risk factors; communicates critical information to staff and colleagues ensuring best-informed decisions regarding safety.
- Provides guidance to Specialists conducting emergency or crisis interventions/evaluations/referrals to ensure client safety and least restrictive options, up to hospitalization.
- Responsible for review and monitoring staff caseloads for adherence to time frames, required activities and documentation, accreditation standards, and quality of services.
- Implement a program structure to ensure state mandated “no decline” protocols and provision of essential services.
- Ensures client confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and program requirements; reviews case files for court proceeding to prepare for verbal or written reports.
- Responsible for all personnel matters within program including hiring, assigning, and terminating of staff. Identifies leadership potential of program staff and training needs for professional development.
- Ensures program’s financial sustainability by timely completion and submission of monthly billing and makes budget recommendations to program leadership.
- Ensures a multi-service, multi-disciplinary, and systems approach so that clients receive comprehensive interventions; coordinates and/or participates in community partnership meetings.
- Develops relationships with community agencies, organizations, and institutions; coordinates and conducts community education opportunities to increase awareness and client referrals.
- Works collaboratively with other supervisors to carry out program goals.
- Works with diverse staff and service populations; demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences in the organization and the population served.
- Responsible for development and maintenance of 24 hour staffing coverage and primary contact person for 24 hour hotline.
- Rotates being on call with other Supervisors to provide consultation and to ensure compliance with required program response time. ; when on call, maintains availability on 24/7 basis by phone.
- Attends staff meetings, in-services, conferences, and workshops to remain in compliance with program licensure and certifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university, required. Or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or university; and seven (7) years of post-Bachelor’s experience with demonstrated supervisory skills and increasing levels of responsibility, required.
- Five (5) years of post-graduate experience with demonstrated supervisory skills and increasing levels of responsibility, required.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English-Preferred
- Demonstrated competence in teaching and coaching.
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and auto insurance required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities, organize time efficiently, and handle multiple demands.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with families or communities and understanding of interfamilial violence.
MCR Qualification:
- Clinical License in field of study preferred.
- Certification from Illinois Department on Aging Adult Protective Services at the first available training- Clinical License in field of study preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with families or communities, and a deep understanding of mental health, crisis intervention and clinical diagnostics.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.

SALARY:
The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of 68,000 to 78,000 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.
