Job Description

  • Greeting and Assisting Visitors:
  • Welcoming families and guests in a respectful and compassionate manner.
  • Directing visitors to the appropriate areas within the funeral home (e.g., arrangement office, chapel, visitation rooms).
  • Phone and Communication Management:
  • Answering phones, taking messages, and transferring calls as needed.
  • Providing information to callers and visitors, answering questions about funeral services and procedures.
  • Administrative Tasks:
  • Processing paperwork, including death certificates, contracts, register books and other forms
  • Maintaining accurate records and files related to funeral arrangements.
  • Type program mock-ups
  • Log flowers
  • Submit newspaper obituaries
  • Assisting with data entry and other clerical tasks.
  • General Support:
  • Assisting with the preparation of funeral services, such as setting up for visitations and handing out service folders.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Running errands as needed, such as picking up or delivering items.
  • Other Duties:
  • May assist with coordinating details of funeral services with clergy, family members, and other staff.
  • May assist with the transportation of flowers and memorabilia.
  • May be required to assist with funeral services.
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computer software and office equipment is necessary for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Customer Service Skills: The ability to provide excellent customer service and build rapport with families is essential.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and attention to detail are important for processing paperwork and maintaining records.
  • Professional Demeanor: Maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times is crucial.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Verbal and written communication skills to interact clearly with customers, vendors and other employees
  • Organization skills to keep accurate records and find important information quickly
  • Time management skills to prioritize and complete a side variety of tasks throughout the day
  • Listens attentively, exercising patience in working with and talking to fellow employees, families, vendors, and the general public using good communication and grammar skills
  • Interpersonal skills to create a pleasant experience for all customers, such as being personable and attentive

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
