Position Description
The Office Support Specialist 2 coordinates and participates in clerical, financial, and record keeping activities of the Codes Administration. Performs a variety of professional level administrative and clerical duties for upper-level management. May involve top-level and lead work involving all phases and functions of the administrative division of the Department of Codes. Performs related duties as required.
During the 2024 fiscal year, Codes issued and tracked $4.2 billion in building permits. The department concerns itself with the safety of the public as occupants in homes and buildings throughout the county and promotes beautiful neighborhoods through the enforcement of local codes and zoning regulations. Codes is an exciting and fast paced environment for those passionate about public safety in the construction and planning sectors.
Typical Duties
Oversees, coordinates, and participates in professional level administrative and secretarial work.
Keeps the Appointing Authority or division manager informed about activities occurring within the division which could have a direct effect on operations.
Performs administrative duties, maintaining accurate records and files.
Researches and gathers statistical, financial, and related data used for planning and decision making for the Codes Department.
Prepares concise reports on programs or projects.
Assists with improving work flow in office operations.
Implements and/or oversees implementation of projects.
May perform responsible work in all areas of the administrative division of the Codes Department.
Fields phone calls and emails to answer questions and resolve issues.
May serve as a liaison between departments and vendors.
Assists with day-to-day operations of the Codes Department including but not limited to sorting mail, deposit reconciliation, expense tracking, and assistance with procurement of departmental supplies and services.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of increasingly responsible clerical/administrative experience.

- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Experience working in Salesforce
