Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Health and Well-being, the Assistant to theAVP / & Special Projects Manager is a multi-faceted role that is responsible for managing Health and Well-being operations, the coordination, implementation, progress, and completion of projects to support units across Health and Well-being, and administrative assistance for the Assistant Vice President. The position responsibilities are broad, dynamic, and essential to the overall operations of the university and in particular to effective student support. The position calls for an individual who is interested in diverse work projects, is detail oriented and an excellent communicator, enjoys a fast-paced and student-focused environment, and who is able to work autonomously. The position also calls for a creative solution-oriented problem solver, and for a professional who exercises sound judgement.

The Health and Well-being Team provides student support through social programming, counseling, psychiatry, basic needs insecurity, Medicaid support and other whole person-centered care and services. This position will work collaboratively with the leaders across Health & Well-being as well as all Student Engagement & Well-being departments. Health and Well-being is the area within the university explicitly focused on all students' well-being working from the eight dimensions of wellness with a lens of equity and understanding of how students' social identities contribute to their university experience. Departments within Health and Well-being include Health Center at Auraria, the Counseling Center, and Campus Recreation.

Duties / Responsibilities

30% - Special Project Management Duties

  • Coordinate and manage special projects to support the goals of Health and Well-being including project mapping, communication with key stakeholders, development of relevant project collateral, and related duties. As needed, participate in and / or lead projects with division-wide or University-wide objectives.
  • Oversee Health and Well-being budgets and engage in budget forecasting and other budget requests / projects.
  • Coordinate, manage, and distribute a combined Health and Well-being marketing and communications strategy.
  • Assist with Health and Wellbeing and Student Affairs communication initiatives, including drafting communication on behalf of theAVP, editing documents and materials, and managing the Health and Well-being website.
  • As requested, research concepts and engage in benchmarking exercises of relevance for Health and Well-being.
  • Serve as a liaison and / or representative for Health and Well-being with internal and external projects. In doing so, coordinate information from across Health and Well-being and distribute relevant information to colleagues.
  • Serve on student affairs and University-wide committees that support major events, divisional initiatives, and related projects.
  • Lead or participate in other committees, initiatives, or department or University efforts as required.

50% - Assistant to the AVP Duties

  • Manage the calendar for theAVP, liaising appropriately with internal and external colleagues to do so.
  • Schedule recurring and ad hoc meetings and / or events on behalf of theAVP, including drafting and distributing agendas, verifying participant attendance, and related communication. As requested, prepare materials for meetings and events for which theAVP is leading and / or attending.
  • Serve as liaison and first point of contact when representing theAVP in communication with internal and external departments, organizations, and groups through a variety of modalities including phone, emails, meetings, and one-on-one conversations.
  • As requested, attend meetings with or in place of theAVP and take accurate notes / minutes for distribution.
  • Track materials and / or approvals requested of theAVP, assist with scheduling approval and related tasks for theAVP, and ensure appropriate record keeping of approvals.
  • Assist with logistics ofAVP travel arrangements and off-campus meetings / events.
  • Maintain Health and Well-being organizational charts and communication listservs; distribute information and updates to Health and Well-being staff in an efficient manner.
  • 20% - Supervisory Duties

  • Provide oversight of budget management, purchasing and fiscal transactions.
  • As needed, assist with office coverage and / or student employee supervision.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (error-free and able to clearly articulate ideas in written format)
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent customer / student service skills
  • Experience coordinating, planning or organizing programs, events and meetings.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional work experience in a higher education setting
  • Masters degree in higher education administration, social work, counseling, business or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated values related to equity and social justice
  • Experience working in a high volume, multi-faceted work environment
  • Experience using Banner and Workday
  • Experience developing and / or updating websites using a content management system
  • Experience coordinating purchasing and / or related fiscal functions
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Work Hours

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, Exempt
  • Monday - Friday, 8 : 00am - 5 : 00 pm
  • Evening and Weekend Work : As Needed
  • Mostly in person, with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement
  • Minimal, if any Travel
  • Salary for Announcement

    Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

    The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $60,000 - $67,000.

    This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
