Job Summary
Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire a Support Staff. This is a full-time position within the College of Management.
Job Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to provide professional clerical and administrative support to the Director of International Programs, and the faculty, staff, and students in the College of Management. This requires knowledge of multiple procedures and program guidelines to make decisions. The position will coordinate services with International Student Services and various international partner institutions/representatives. The ability to explain decisions, manage financial data/budgets, and provide rationale as to how the decisions/procedures add meaning to COM services. This position also assists with projects assigned by the Office Manager as needed to support the College of Management.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
- Two (2) years of full-time, professional administrative experience in a support role.
- English language skills to understand and communicate with exceptional professionalism both orally and in writing with faculty, staff, students, and external partners; interpret and respond to a variety of materials; strong skills in proofreading, spelling and grammar; and ability to follow/interpret detailed and complex instructions.
- Demonstrated skills working at an intermediate level with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Zoom/Teams and Outlook sufficient to format and edit a variety of documents and spreadsheets; enter and track financial data; schedule meetings; and create reports, flyers and professional written correspondence.
- Demonstrated math aptitude sufficient to create, calculate, review, and reconcile financial data, budget records and reports.
- Excellent customer service skills to assist in a professional, calm, courteous, and timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work on a team and build good working relationships with limited supervision.
- Experience working with database systems.
- Experience providing professional-level administrative support in higher education.
- Experience organizing and prioritizing projects with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
Physical Requirements
This position occasionally requires transporting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials (with help from others as needed) and/or transporting light objects frequently. The position may require movement throughout building(s) to a significant degree
Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
