As a Human Resource Generalist, you will take on a variety of Human Resource duties. This role will primarily function as the HR Generalist for our Akron location, to collaborate as needed with our HRM and Highland Hts. HR Generalist. You will be part of an ambitious team working cohesively on different HR functions such as recruiting, benefits administration, payroll, LOA, BWC, employee relations etc. An ideal candidate will possess a high level of emotional intelligence and encompass a broad knowledge base in all human resource areas.

Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital is a 24-hour specialty and emergency animal hospital with two locations. Our original location has been providing Gold Standard care in Copley, Ohio since 1968, and our second hospital located in Highland Heights, Ohio opened in February 2022. At both of our highly equipped hospitals we offer specialty and emergency veterinary services. Between the two hospitals, we have roughly 400 employees including 80 veterinarians specializing in emergency, critical care, oncology, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and exotics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Review, track, document and ensure compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams, and certifications.
· Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
· Conduct background check and employee eligibility verifications.
· Perform new hire orientation and onboarding.
· Implement and help manage employee recognition programs.
· Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs such as, compensation, benefits, LOA, BWC, performance and talent management, recognition, employee engagement, employee relations, training, and development.
· Handles employment-related complex and/or sensitive matters in an appropriate and professional manner.
· Attends, guides, and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
· Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
· Recommended best practices; reviews HR policies and practices to maintain compliance.
· Stay up to date with knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and with new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
· Performs other duties as assigned by HRM.
Required Skills/Abilities:

· Solid understanding of human resource principles, practices, laws, and procedures.

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
· At least 5 years related experience required.
· HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
· Must be able to stand, bend, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,000 - $75,000 per year/ based on experience.

Schedule:
· 40-hour daytime shift: Monday - Friday, with expectation to flex schedule as needed to provide support on nights and weekends.
