As a Cost Estimator-in-Training for the Airports Authority, you will gain real-world experience and industry knowledge in phases of project life cycle costing, from planning to completion, and emphasize practical experience, industry best practices, and cost estimation techniques.
This is a developmental level position and may lead to the full performance Construction Project Cost Estimator position.
- Reviews design submittals, plans, and specifications and provides estimate review comments.
- Prepares independent cost estimates for change requests, analyzes contractor proposals, and assists with negotiations.
- Visits construction sites to evaluate changes and ensure accurate scope of work.
- Collaborates with the Design and Construction Departments to ensure cost alignment with design objectives and project timelines.
- Coordinates with project controls and schedulers to evaluate cost and schedule impacts on project delivery.
- Assists in the preparation of detailed project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Provides management with updates on construction budgets, independent cost estimates, and design or construction change notices.
- Upon achieving these criteria, a one-grade increase is awarded non-competitively, and the employee will be eligible for a non-competitive promotion to the full-time role of Construction Project Cost Estimator (S23671).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) years of experience in the construction or engineering field. A master’s degree may substitute for two years of required experience.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret construction documents and translate them into accurate cost estimates.
- Proficiency in project management and estimating software systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and contractors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), or equivalent certification.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED
State driver’s license in good standing.
A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.
