Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Mettler Toledo is seeking to hire a Structural Design Engineer to develop product and process solutions for vehicle scale applications at the Masstron Producing Organization. As a design engineer you will be responsible for developing new products and modification of existing products. You will also lead, interact, and assist in New Product Development Projects appropriate to skill levels and initiative.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conceive, define, develop, and design products/processes per project schedules
- Assure that new or modified designs meet or exceed applicable industry standards and performance / cost goals, and in the absence of documented goals, obtain knowledge of applicable industry standards, customers, markets, manufacturing capability, and product applications to result in appropriate design choices
- Be the subject matter expert responsible for calculation and analysis of weigh bridge structures and their foundations
- Accurately predict acceptable design life for products
- Interface with other departments, vendors, customers, regulatory agencies, etc. as appropriate to expedite work
What You Need to Succeed
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Civil or Structural Engineering coupled with applicable experiences and capabilities is required
- Preferred experience in marketing or developing products and applications closely with customers and end users.
- Product design experience in a technical or industrial field is preferred
- Proven aptitude/experience with CAD/CAE/FEA software (e.g. Creo, Marc, ANSYS, CivilFEM, DIANA), structural design and analysis, weldment design, heavy steel fabrication, and basic electrical wiring
- Must possess sound analytical abilities and business sense
- Prefer someone who is motivated, adaptable, and has the professional qualities to work with multiple disciplines across global organizations
