What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Enrichment Specialty Instructor position at Metuchen-Edison YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision and the guidance of the Director or assigned supervisor, the young enrichment specialty instructor will be responsible for instructing enrichment classes in his/her assigned or specialty area. Areas of interest: Archery, Martial Arts, Youth Sports
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensure all health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to.
2. Arrive at assigned time in order to ensure that prior to class all equipment/materials is set up, and check to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
3. Take attendance during each class and ensure all participants have signed in.
4. Ensure that children are accompanied by an adult when required and all children are supervised at all times.
5. Exhibit a pleasant and cheerful attitude at all times, engaging children and families in activities/classes.
6. Accurately punch in and out.
7. Must attend all mandatory meetings and trainings as directed.
8. Engage and interact with all YMCA members, class participants and staff in a professional, respectful and courteous manner, reflecting our core values and providing assistance where possible.
9. Adhere to YMCA professional appearance policy which may include staff shirt/smock, appropriate pants while on duty.
10. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Prefer 18 years of age
· Strong background in specialty area
· Previous experience instructing or leading groups
· Ability to mentor children and connect with families
PHYSICAL REQURIEMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal amounts of walking, standing, sitting, running, jumping, lifting, pushing, pulling, speaking, reading, and writing.
