We’re looking for a hands-on problem solver at the intersection of food, science, and engineering. This role requires a unique blend of applied mathematics, software development, and culinary expertise to develop next-generation smart kitchen appliances.
Key Responsibilities
1. Thermal & Control System Engineering
- Apply calculus, thermodynamics, and heat transfer principles to improve precision cooking automation.
- Develop PID tuning algorithms and real-time control systems for kitchen appliances.
2. Software Development & Sensor Integration
- Program Python, MATLAB, or embedded systems for cooking algorithm optimization.
- Work with sensors (thermocouples, infrared, load cells) to enhance system feedback and accuracy.
3. Culinary Experimentation & Validation
- Apply food chemistry and professional cooking techniques to develop test protocols.
- Conduct kitchen experiments to evaluate food texture, doneness, and quality.
4. Data Analysis & Machine Learning for Cooking Optimization
- Use AI/ML modeling to predict cooking performance and optimize automation algorithms.
- Analyze data trends from sensor logs to refine and improve real-world cooking results.
Must-Have Skills
- Advanced Math & Science: Applied calculus, physics (thermodynamics, heat transfer).
- Programming: Python, MATLAB, or control system programming (PLC, AI-driven automation).
- Cooking Expertise: Professional kitchen experience, food science, or culinary R&D.
- Automation & Sensors: Experience integrating temperature sensors, load cells, and control systems in real-world applications.
Preferred Backgrounds
- Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Robotics, or Food Science.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily indoors at our offices. Lighting is artificial. Equipment used includes standard office equipment i.e. computer, telephone, fax machine and copier. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending over, kneeling, repetitive use of hands, grasping, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 25 lbs. Hours and days are flexible within a Monday through Friday workweek. Some travel may be required.
