The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing social, recreational, and educational activities for adult residential facility (ARF) residents, including individuals with cognitive issues, traumatic brain injuries, the elderly, or developmental disabilities. The role focuses on promoting wellness through various activities and works closely with other departments to coordinate and execute programs that enhance residents' physical, social, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and coordinate daily activities, focusing on wellness and independent living skills.
- Manage a monthly activity calendar, ensuring activities align with residents' interests and needs.
- Collaborate with other departments and facilities to organize special events and weekend programs.
- Lead exercise sessions and fitness activities, adjusting for varying ability levels.
- Act as a host at activities, handling setup, coordination, and clean-up.
- Manage activity budgets and ensure all materials and supplies are organized and available.
- Monitor residents' progress and adapt activities to improve engagement and participation.
- Maintain records, reports, and documentation of activities and resident progress.
- Assist with vocational support services and community involvement for residents.
- Participate in staff meetings and case conferences as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and wellness program policies.
Qualifications:
- Healthcare license with at least 1 year of experience in wellness programs, or a high school diploma/GED with certification from a recognized wellness/fitness organization (e.g., AFPA, AFAA, ACE).
- Knowledge of wellness principles, fitness training, and exercise techniques.
- Ability to manage and coordinate health and wellness programs, work independently, and communicate effectively.
- Experience with fitness equipment and maintaining a safe, engaging environment for diverse populations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage in physical activity, including lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
- Mobility to move, stand, or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring flexibility, manual dexterity, and the handling of equipment.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Insurable under standard automobile rates, valid California driver’s license.
- Federal and state fingerprint clearance.
- Negative tuberculosis test and successful drug screening.
