Job Overview
MGC is looking for a dedicated License Office Manager to join our team.This is an exciting opportunity in a growing, fast-paced company, located in St. Louis Central West End. The License Office Manager is an important role that oversees the critical, daily operation of the license office and its team. The ideal candidate will have prior DMV management experience and play a crucial role by providing excellent administration, communication, top-tier customer service, effective and efficient leadership, and organizational management, which includes employee retention, frequent team meetings, and staff performance and development. The manager will train, evaluate, make complex decisions, and provide answers to complex questions. The License Office Manager will provide workload estimations, and oversee the planning and scheduling of workloads for all license office employees. The manager will also be responsible for administrative reporting functions in the office and for completing or when necessary, overseeing and effectively following up on projects assigned.
Responsibilities
1. Manage the administration and daily operations of the license office
2. Manage permanent personnel, temporary, etc.; ensuring positive team morale
3. Maintain records and prepare reports related to the license office and MGC
4. Effectively monitor, interpret, apply, and explain provisions of laws, administrative regulations, and policies to employees and the public
5. Oversee expenditures and manage resources
6. Recommend changes in license office staffing and equipment requirements
7. Recommend changes in policies of the license office facility
8. Effectively communicate and follow up as necessary on all emails, project progress, and pending activities
9. Examine applicants and recommend driver's license issuance
10. Determine if vehicles are subject to registration in Missouri and provide guidance on required documents for proper registration and ownership
11. Collect and account for fees and penalties related to licenses and registrations
12. Handle notices of suspension, revocation, and cancellation of licenses
13. Maintain ongoing and effective communication with MGC’s Business Ops Manager, CEO, and staff
14. Participate in meetings and trainings (as required)
15. Other duties
Experience
- 5 years of proven experience in a DMV role is required
- Coaching and mentoring a team of staff members
- Professionally managing high volumes of customer interactions
- Addressing escalated complaints and resolving issues promptly
- Ensuring a friendly and helpful environment for customers
- Coordinating office operations, reporting, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Proficiency in handling DMV-specific software or systems.
- Ensuring all paperwork and processes, like vehicle registration or licensing, are completed accurately
- Finding ways to streamline processes and reduce wait times
- A thorough understanding of state-specific DMV rules and regulations
- Staying updated with changes in policies and ensuring the team is informed
- Developing strategies to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
