The Employee Development Specialist will assist in the creation, organization, implementation, and presentation of various forms of onboarding, orientation, and safety training for employees. This role will be responsible for performing individual and group training sessions in the classroom and in the field. The Employee Development Specialist will update and continuously improve MGE’s training programs to ensure we are using best-in-class practices to exceed customer expectations. This role must consistently display MGE’s core values (Safety, Continuous Development, Respect, Integrity, Performance, Trust, and Fun), ensuring all employees are fully capable of delivering on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
How You Will Contribute
Pay: $74,200 - $86,000 annually
This pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.

How You Will Contribute
- Assist in the development of onboarding and training programs for both new and existing employees to maintain or improve job skills
- Design, plan, organize, direct, and present onboarding and employee training programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.
- Support culture change initiatives with multi-faceted solutions that drive individual, team, and organizational behaviors
- Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives
- Assist in developing and maintaining course curriculums, training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Proficient in learning new software systems and being able to train others
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and training in a group setting
- Ability to travel, driving for long periods of time (within California)
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Desired: Associate’s degree in EHS or Construction Disciplines or equivalent job experience
- Experience in construction or related field; 2 years preferred
- Required: Valid Class C Driver’s License; clean driving record
- Desired: Class A Driver’s License
- Desired: Knowledge of standards, best practices, and procedures related to utility infrastructure
- Desired: Certifications: OSHA 500, DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing, OHST, CHST, CIT, CSSS, or equivalent
- Desired: Trainer Certifications: CPR & First Aid, Smith System, Forklift, Aerial Lift, Scissor Lift
Pay: $74,200 - $86,000 annually
