Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage and optimize our receivables process while supporting essential accounting functions. This role is ideal for a finance professional who excels in accounts receivable management, reconciliation, and customer account resolution while also gaining hands-on experience in broader Accounting functions.
Requirements :
Maintain and reconcile the accounts receivable ledger, ensuring accurate recording of customer payments, credits, and outstanding balances.
Initiate and conduct collections outreach (calls / emails) to follow up on overdue payments while fostering positive customer relationships.
Investigate and resolve accounts receivable discrepancies, complete supplier portal setups, and collaborate with internal teams to streamline financial processes.
Process daily revenue recognition batches in CRM, reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
Prepare monthly membership renewal billing, process lockbox cash postings, and generate refund reports.
Assist with journal entries, publication inventory tracking, and unit cost calculations.
Serve as a backup for accounts payable and payroll functions while supporting audit and tax schedule preparation.
Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

Knowledge, skills and abilities :
Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain a positive attitude and interpersonal relationship building across multiple departments and with our membership and executive partners.
Knowledge of principles and procedures of accounting practice and basic financial analysis.
Intermediate MS Excel skills.
Knowledge of and experience with MS Dynamics (Great Plains), ADP, and / or B1360.
Ability to identify problems, research alternatives, and achieve solutions.
Ability to work independently and to exercise judgement and creativity.
Education :
Associate's degree preferred (in Accounting or closely related field is preferred).
Experience :
Two (2) or more years of experience in Accounts Receivable or Accounting is required.
Experience in a non-profit organization is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements / Licenses / Certifications :
Must have reliable transportation.
