The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) is seeking a seasoned Director of Architecture and Engineering to lead our software development, solution architecture, and data architecture & engineering teams. This pivotal role will drive our technology transformation as we incorporate a scaled agile operating model, driving modern development processes and tech stacks to the organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, membership, marketing, and operations to ensure that our technology solutions align with the organization's goals, enhancing our commitment to empowering medical group practices through data, insights, and advocacy.

Essential Functions:
- Oversee and manage the software development, solution architecture, and data architecture & engineering teams, ensuring effective execution of projects aligned with MGMA’s business objectives.
- Facilitate transformation of the technology organization to modern engineering and architecture frameworks and practices, leading the transition to a scaled agile framework. Ensure the successful adoption of new processes and technologies within the teams, including the education of business partners on how to successfully work with IT.
- Identify opportunities to rearchitect or replatform legacy technologies to drive desired business outcomes. Drive work estimation efforts and ROI calculations.
- Lead the creation and execution of the engineering roadmap and strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring and coaching team members, including managers, developers and architects, to build new skills and enhance performance.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify technology requirements and desired outcomes, providing regular updates at the executive level.
- Implement processes and standards to ensure product quality, security, and seamless integration, including ARB, release management, QA/QE, and secure development, testing, and deployment practices.
- Oversee data architecture and partner with the business on data governance, including optimization of enterprise data warehouse solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure tools (e.g., Azure Synapse).
- Ensure high-quality delivery through CI/CD and DevOps practices within the team.
- Oversee hybrid technology teams made up of FTEs, consultants, contractors, and other vendors. Advise the organization on staffing and scalability strategies to extend team capacity and capabilities. Assist in vendor selection processes, managing vendor performance and budget.
- Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Experience leading engineers and architects to develop custom products within a Scaled Agile Development framework is required. Experience leading technical teams through agile transformation is strongly preferred.
- Experience developing technology road maps to align with business goals and presenting them with the executive level is required. Must have experience tracking technology outcomes against business goals and be comfortable being held accountable to business OKRs/KPIs.
- Seasoned technical leader with experience overseeing technologists of multiple disciplines and levels. Ability to coach, upskill, and train talent in both technical and soft skills.
- Knowledge of data architecture, integration, engineering, and governance practices.
- Ability to lead and educate the business on secure development practices and standards.
- Strong communication, strategic thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to work through conflict and gain consensus.
- Proven experience partnering with product, marketing, and operations organizations to drive business outcomes with technology.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of the .NET Framework, .NET Core, C#, Blazor, ASP.NET, WCF, JavaScript, and MS SQL.
- Experiencing building API-driven architectures that enable smooth data exchange and interoperability among different systems.
- Experience with configuring, monitoring, provisioning cloud applications; preferably Azure.
- Experience with CI/CD/DevOps is required.
- Experience with architecture frameworks such as Zachman, FEAF, and TOGAF. Ability to set and educate stakeholders on architecture standards and best practices such as ARB.
- Experience managing vendors/contractors/consultants as well as hybrid development teams.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is preferred but not required.
- Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Other duties as required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field is required.
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in architecture and/or engineering is required.
- Five (5) or more years of direct leadership / supervisory experience is required.
- Experience in the healthcare sector is preferred but not required.
