The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA is seeking an innovative Manager of Data and Solution Architecture to both provide thought leadership in architecture practices as lead hands on development of solution, data, and integration architectures for MGMA’s custom products. This role will focus on rearchitecting legacy solutions to enhance usability and customer experience, developing solution architectures for new systems, and guiding integration efforts across the organization. The successful candidate will be able to operate in a leadership capacity to establish high performing data / solution architecture disciplines, while also being able to be “hands on,” architecting data and software solutions.

Essential Functions:
- Oversee and manage data architects, data engineers and solution architects, ensuring effective architecture and delivery of solutions aligned with MGMA’s business objectives.
- Establish leading practices and process standards for data architecture, solution architecture, and data engineering. Oversee the implementation of these standards and practices, including establishing an architecture review board.
- Lead the rearchitecting of legacy solutions to improve usability and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Develop a process for architecture discovery for new products, assessing their impact on existing systems and processes. Partner with the PMO to integrate architecture discovery into the existing project lifecycle.
- Develop solution architectures for new initiatives, including integration architecture to ensure seamless connectivity between systems. Partner with product, operations, membership, and marketing stakeholders to align architectures with business requirements.
- Create and maintain architecture documentation to foster clarity and understanding within development teams.
- Assist in the development and documentation of a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for improved asset and configuration tracking.
- Provide strategic advice on enhancing technology stacks and improving system efficiencies.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to design solutions that effectively meet business needs and ensure smooth transitions to developers.
- Oversee data architecture initiatives including the use of Microsoft Azure Synapse, data lakes, and data warehouses. Partner with the business on implementing data governance processes.
- Ensure adherence to data governance principles, promoting data quality, security, and compliance across the organization.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring and coaching team members, including managers, developers and architects, to build new skills and enhance performance. Educate both team members as well as external stakeholders (in IT and the business) on architecture and data disciplines.
- Assist the Director of Architecture and Engineering in identifying needs for contract or consulting architects or data engineers. Guide contractors and consultants to contribute to project outcomes.
- Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

- Proven experience working within an Agile framework, with the ability to adapt architecture practices to Agile methodologies.
- Experience leading data architecture, integration, engineering, and governance practices.
- Experience in data architecture technologies such as Azure Data Lake, SQL databases, NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), and ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory).
- Strong experience with .NET technologies and familiarity with Microsoft tools (e.g., Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Power BI).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in creating and leading architecture documentation, standards, and best practices.
- Proven experience partnering with product, marketing, and operations organizations to design architectures that align with business requirements.
- Experience with architecture frameworks such as Zachman, FEAF, and TOGAF. Ability to set and educate stakeholders on architecture standards and best practices such as ARB.
- Experience working with vendors/contractors/consultants.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is preferred but not required.
- Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Other duties as required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related field is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in data and solution architecture, with a focus on designing and implementing scalable solutions.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory / leadership experience
- Experience in the healthcare sector is preferred but not required.
