Position Summary
The Paint Technician will focus on continuously improving the Paint Line by concentrating on the cost, quality, speed, and flexibility we offer customers. All activities are completed with a focus on safety and protection of the environment while documenting records within our ISO 9001 and 14001 processes.
- Handles materials, supplies, and products to facilitate smooth operations across production areas.
- Inspects painted products to verify quality standards are met.
- Checks the thickness of the paint with a wet film gauge to ensure proper coverage.
- Performs adhesion tests on finished material.
- Maintains inventory for wastewater treatment filters, cleans and changes filters as needed.
- Chemically balances and maintains wastewater level and PH based on Paint and Die Shop waste volume.
- Ensures compliance with all city and state regulations for discharged wastewater and maintains accurate records of discharged water quality and quantity.
- Tests and maintains chemical balance for paint shop washer stations, maintains proper water level and temperature for each station.
- Cleans, inspects, replaces, and maintains washer nozzles for correct flow, spray pattern, and direction. Inspects washer's internal plumbing for leaks, missing nozzles, or other defects.
- Maintains washer tank parameters through titration and chemical balance to meet the required standards.
- Collects water samples and completes the sampling process for the city wastewater requirements.
- Maintains hazardous material inventory and shipments
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with company safety and housekeeping standards.
- Participate in cross-training to support multiple production areas and enhance skills.
- Follow all safety protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly, and adapt to different workstations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, and perform tasks for extended periods.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and shifts as needed.
Work Environment
- Exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust in a manufacturing environment.
- Always wear appropriate PPE (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, ear protection).
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and caustic chemicals, all within OSHA standards.
