Job Description:
The Histotechnologist will play a crucial role in our dermatology office, focusing on the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for Mohs micrographic surgery. The ideal candidate will have experience in histological techniques and a strong background in dermatopathology.

Responsibilities:
- Perform tissue processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of dermatological specimens, including frozen sections for Mohs surgery.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of slides for microscopic examination by the Mohs surgeon.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, ensuring quality control and proper calibration.
- Follow all safety and regulatory guidelines, including those related to handling biological samples and hazardous chemicals.
- Maintain accurate records of specimen processing and laboratory activities.
- Collaborate with dermatologists and Mohs surgeons to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to histological procedures.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in histotechnology and dermatopathology.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Histotechnology or related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with a focus on dermatology or Mohs surgery.
- Proficiency in histological techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Familiarity with immunohistochemistry and other advanced staining techniques is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in all aspects of laboratory work.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
