Organization
MiA - Mujeres in Action is the only organization in the Spokane region providing culturally responsive intervention services primarily to Latinx survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault (DV/SA), and conducting prevention efforts in Spanish. Since fall of 2018, MiA has been helping Latinx families find safety, stability, and independence, as well as forming key partnerships with other agencies to expand services to the Latinx community. Position Overview
The Policy Advocacy Manager will lead MiA’s advocacy program, developing and implementing strategies that advance the organization’s goals in human rights and racial justice. This role will involve engaging with community stakeholders, policymakers, and advocacy groups to promote
policies that protect and empower marginalized communities, particularly Latinx survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Manager will work collaboratively with the MiA team to ensure that advocacy efforts align with the organization’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the development and implementation of MiA’s policy advocacy strategies focused on human rights and racial justice.
· Research and analyze relevant policies, legislation, and social issues affecting Latinx communities, particularly in the context of domestic violence and sexual assault. Engage and build relationships with community stakeholders, policymakers, and advocacy organizations to advance MiA’s advocacy goals.
· Develop and deliver training and educational materials for community members and advocates on policy issues affecting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Collaborate with the MiA team to integrate advocacy efforts with direct service provision and community education initiatives.
· Represent MiA at community events, meetings, and coalitions to raise awareness and promote advocacy efforts.
· Monitor and evaluate the impact of advocacy initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement and adjustments to strategies.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, public policy, political science, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
· 3-5 years of experience in policy advocacy, community organizing, or related fields, preferably focused on human rights or racial justice.
· Strong understanding of the challenges faced by Latinx survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
· Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
· Proven ability to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies and campaigns.
· Familiarity with legislative processes and experience working with policymakers.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish required
Preferred:
· Experience in coalition building and community engagement efforts.
· Knowledge of social justice issues affecting marginalized communities, particularly in the context of domestic violence and sexual assault.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Information:
· This position requires occasional evening and weekend work to attend community events and meetings.

Paid Time Off (PTO):
· We offer an annual 60 hours for vacation (For the 2-year increasing in the 3rd year)
· Accrual begins on your first day, and usage is eligible after 30 days of employment.
