POSITION SUMMARY : Under direction, performs a variety of clerical and fiscal-related duties that facilitate the daily operations of the Miami County Sanitary Engineering department.
QUALIFICATIONS : Completion of four (4) years of high school or equivalent. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license. Coursework or experience in typing, bookkeeping, and modern office practices / procedures preferred. Must be able to meet bonding requirements. Must become notary public within first twelve (12) months of employment.
DUTIES : Interprets and posts fiscal data to books, journals and / or computer, receives payments, issues receipts, and reconciles cash to receipts and stubs, operates computer system to prepare and maintain records of water usage (mails bills and past due notices, records payments received, enters data on computer, compiles lists for documents, provides usage data when requested, etc.), maintains refuse billing records. Receives customer telephone calls, greets visitors and callers, responds to routine questions regarding service area and utility locations, takes messages or refers caller to appropriate personnel, answers routine inquiries, maintains vendor list, processes out-going mail, prepares reports and other documentation, composes routine customer correspondence, performs general clerical duties (types, files and retrieves documents, maintains records, copies files, handles fax transmissions, etc.), takes OUPS calls and prepares and forwards utility locations and requests as required, receives work order requests and forwards to service technician, communicates with staff on radios, attends staff meetings and training seminars, may be required to drive for work purposes (picking-up mail, delivering documents to other County offices, etc.). Acts as back-up to Transfer Station Scale Clerk as needed, maintains and orders office supplies, stocks and orders copier supplies. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Demonstrates regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
